The 2013 MLB season has come to a close.  The Texas Rangers underperformed for a second year in a row, despite exceeding expectations after losing star players to free agency such as Josh Hamilton, Mike Napoli, Ryan Dempster, Mike Adams, and Koji Uehara, as well as to injury such as Matt Harrison, and oh, every other pitcher at some point in the season.  And then there was Nelson Cruz.  Banned 50 games for violating the leagues substance abuse policy, Rangers fans have rallied behind him in support, citing his forthright honesty, coming clean about the situation.  Still, others would have him gone from Texas.  Texas has extended a qualifying offer of 14.1 million dollars for the 2014 season.  If Cruz declines, he will hit the free agent market, and if he chooses to sign with a team other than Texas, Texas will be granted a compensation draft pick.

Congratulations go out to Mike Napoli, Koji Uehara, and Ryan Dempster.  All Texas Rangers in 2012.
